Busy New Year For Sportsbooks

It will be an incredibly busy New Year’s Day for many sportsbooks, including those located in Costa Rica, and other that cater to the US market. The main reason it is going to be such a busy day is thanks to the College Football bowls that will be played on that day. Five bowl games will be played on Friday, and based on previous statistics, the betting volume is much higher for games that happen on January 1st. On top of this, the NCAA is testing out a playoff format. The five bowl games being played are:

Outback Bowl: Northwestern vs. Tennessee

This particular match-up will happen at Noon at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. With the increased interest in the game, the final score is currently being predicted to be: Northwestern 21 – Tennessee 17. This is a weird prediction as most sportsbooks are favoring Tennessee (-8), but it may be good news for those placing a wager on the underdogs.

Citrus Bowl: Michigan vs. Florida

Taking place at 1 p.m. at the Orlando Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida, the high amount of wagers have predicted the final score to be: Michigan 23 – Florida 17. This has Michigan covering the spread (-4½), so it may be a good bet to place on the favorite.

Fiesta Bowl: Notre Dame vs. Ohio State

This is a big game to watch, as it takes place at the U. of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Fans have made a big leap, predicting the final score to be Ohio State 41 – Notre Dame 27, giving them a huge lead, and obviously covering the (-6½) spread. It seems Ohio State is heavily favored to win this bowl game.

Rose Bowl: Stanford vs. Iowa

Being played in Pasadena, California, the game may be close with a final score of Stanford 28 – Iowa 24. Stanford is being favored to win, along with a spread of (-6), so placing a different bet on the money line and spread may be the way to go.

Sugar Bowl: Oklahoma State vs. Ole Miss

With these two top football teams the game seems to be a close one, with Oklahoma State 31 – Ole Miss 30. Ole Miss is the overall favorite with (-7½) spread, so it is a big leap to think that Oklahoma State will end up winning outright. There must be more Oklahoma fans placing bets.
